Frequently Asked Questions
- What’s the difference between P3 and P2S?
Our flagship CO2 lasers represent a professional-grade evolution from the P2S foundation:
- P2 Smart Laser: Designed for creative professionals, focusing on intelligent features that simplify complex creation.
- P3 Productivity Laser: Built for small business production, focusing on speed and efficiency to maximize commercial output.
The P3 represents a comprehensive and significant upgrade over the P2S across three core areas: industrial performance, intelligence and automation, and safety. In short, the P3 is engineered for users seeking higher productivity, broader material compatibility, and a more automated and secure workflow. Here are the key differences:
Industrial Performance & Material Capability:
- Power & Functionality: The P3 features a more powerful 80W CO₂ laser (compared to 55W on the P2S) and offers an optional 5W Infrared (IR) laser module. This dual-laser capability allows the P3 to engrave on metals and plastics, offering “limitless material” possibilities that the P2S cannot handle.
- Size & Speed: The P3’s working area is 2.3 times larger than the P2S’s, and its maximum speed and acceleration are substantially higher (e.g., 1200mm/s vs. 600mm/s). This translates to greater productivity and the ability to tackle much larger projects.
- Processing Depth (Z-Axis): The P3 fundamentally changes 3D object engraving with a built-in, motorized AutoLift Base that comes standard. This provides a massive 8.66″ (220 mm) of vertical space right out of the box. In contrast, the P2S requires an optional, manual Riser Base to achieve its maximum height of 215mm.
- Cooling System: The P3 includes a more advanced built-in Inverter Water Chiller to support its more powerful laser system. It ensures stable, high-performance output from the P3 across varying environmental conditions, powering your productivity all day.
Intelligence & Automation:
- Core Workflow: The P3 introduces the ACS™ Intelligent Workflow, which seamlessly integrates features like Auto-Positioning, Autofocus, an AutoLift Base that automatically adjusts for object height, and an integrated, quick-release Automatic Conveyor Feeder to minimize manual intervention. In contrast, the P2S requires manual height adjustments and conveyor assembly for each use.
- Rotary Engraving: This is one of the most significant upgrades. The P3’s Smart RA3 Rotary accessory uses 360° LiDAR Mapping to create a perfect 3D preview before engraving and supports batch processing. The P2S’s rotary tool relies on manual measurements, offers no preview, and is limited to single-item processing.
Safety System:
- The P3 takes a major leap forward in safety, achieving a certified Class 1 laser safety rating, while the P2S is a Class 4 device. This top-tier safety is made possible by a multi-layered system. The P3 integrates an Upgraded High-Precision Perception System, which combines 8 Infrared (IR) sensors, a temperature sensor, and side cameras with an advanced vision algorithm; the P2S, by contrast, relies on camera recognition. Furthermore, the P3 comes standard with a built-in CO₂ active fire suppression system, a critical feature that requires the separate purchase of an optional Fire Safety Set on the P2S.
- What new materials can the P3 handle?
P3 expands your creative boundaries. Thanks to its new modular capabilities, it will be the first xTool CO2 machine to unlock direct engraving on plastic and metals like stainless steel and aluminum, opening up a whole new world of possibilities.
- What is the maximum size and height of an object the P3 can work on? And do I need to buy an accessory like a riser base separately?
- Working Area: The standard working area of the xTool P3 is an expansive 36″ x 18″ (915 mm x 458 mm). This is approximately 2.3 times the area of the P2S, allowing you to easily handle large-scale projects or more efficient batch production. Furthermore, for projects that require processing of extra-long materials, the P3 is compatible with the optional Intelligent Conveyor Feeder, which unlocks the ability to work on materials of virtually any length.
- Object Thickness (Height): Unlike older models that require a separate, manual riser base, the P3 features a built-in AutoLift Base (maximum weighing capacity: 35.3lbs (16kg)) as a standard feature. This integrated system provides 8.66″ (220mm) of vertical space, allowing you to engrave directly on bulky items like briefcases and gift boxes with no extra hassle.
