No experience necessary!

Whether your student is already producing music at home or has no music experience whatsoever, this class will empower them to explore their musical interests and talents while gaining practical knowledge about the technological side of music production.

Beginners and advancing students alike will thrive on this tech-driven quest.

Hands-on mentorship tailored to each student

With one-on-one help from real electronic musicians, students succeed and gain confidence with STEM and Music.

All instructors are adults with background checks. We employ a mix of engineers and musicians with real-world experience.

Noise-Cancelling Headphones Provided

Every student receives a pair or studio-grade, sound-isolating headphones to use at camp, and every synth at camp is equipped with multiple headphone outputs.  This means that students can easily plug in to each other’s setups to get inspiration and collaborate, or they can get peace and quiet by unplugging whenever they need.  This approach is essential for creating a social yet quiet environment that empowers students to be in control of what and how much they hear at any given moment.  We work with a lot of students who have sound sensitivities (very common among musicians) or who are easily overwhelmed, so we encourage students to keep their isolating headphones handy and to wear them even during lectures to dampen sound if they want to!  We encourage all students, regardless of specific sensitivities, to listen to their bodies so that they can find a creative ‘flow state’ that works best for them!

DCBDD and ACE funding available

Students who qualify for funding through either the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities or the Ohio Afterschool Child Enrichment Educational Savings Account program are encouraged to enroll. If you know you can get funding through one of those programs, we’ll help with the paperwork.

Instructions for DCBDD enrollments: Please use the coupon code DCBDD at checkout. You will be able to secure your spot without paying, because we bill DCBDD later.

Instructions for ACE enrollments: Please enroll and pay like normal, then send us an email to request your receipt for ACE. You’ll then submit that receipt for reimburtsement from ACE.

Camps for Ages 8-12, 9-14, and 14-18 (the grades for this one are in the page title)

We offer a variety of camps including Game Music Camp, Synth Adventure Camp, and A.I. Music Camp. We started these camps at the University of Washington in 2019, so the photos you see on this site are from a variety of programs, for all ages.  When signing up for a specific program, check the ages!

Tactile, Hands-On Music Creation Stations Perfect for Neurodivergent Students

We use lots of physical, analog instruments rather than just computers to make music. This approach is perfect for ASD and other learning differences because kids can hyper-focus on an instrument, explore sounds, and learn how to explore more effectively.

Registration through the Delaware county board of disability (DCBDD) is available upon request

Explore industry-standard electronic music production, composition, and performance techniques

During class, students will use pro-level music gear including Modular Synthesizers, Analog Synthesizers, Drum Machines, and computer software (GarageBand and Ableton Live 12) to create and perform tracks in whatever genre/style they wish!

Reduce stress and improve focus

This year, SoundLab will focus on music creation as a technique for practicing mental health.  We’ll make a lot of relaxing ‘ambient’ music, and music for dancing! We’ll explore DJ techniques so that students can not only create but also perform their own music.

Make music with like-minded peers

SoundLab is a project-based, hands-on, collaborative STEM learning experience. Students work individually and in teams (aka bands) to create music and finish challenges. Many of our students still work together to this day!

Returning / Advanced students welcome!

Returning students will pick up where they left off, but new students will get the full intro to using our fun music gadgets and apps, and plenty of one-on-one instruction.

Incorporate other instruments

If your child already plays an instrument (piano, guitar, flute, etc.), we’re excited to help integrate that into their electronic compositions.

Supportive environment that encourages exploration and creativity

This isn’t just about learning music; it’s about experiencing the joy of creation and performance.

Our students gain practical knowledge about the technological side of music production in a fun and supportive environment that encourages exploration and creativity.

Music + STEM = Electronic Musicians’ Camp

For Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced Students Alike! Columbus Ohio’s first music summer camp for students who want to learn to produce tracks, make beats, and compose electronic music. Looking for Ableton Live lessons? Music production classes? Our summer music camp prepares students to produce electronic music like the pros.

Students at our music camps have continual hands-on experience with the latest software and hardware tools used by their favorite artists. As such, Electronic Musicians’ Camp is the perfect combination of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and Art, which is sometimes referred to as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math).

With one-on-one help from real musicians and producers, students with little-to-no prior experience can quickly develop their skills, find their ‘sound’, and begin producing the music they’ve always wanted to produce. Intermediate and advanced students will learn just as much, as our instructors tailor lessons and activities to individual skill levels. Wherever you are in your musical journey, our goal is to help you progress to the next level.

Elementary school, middle school and high school students in Columbus, Ohio looking for a STEM summer camp that focuses on the technological side of music production should get excited!
