Lego BattleBot Engineering, Invention and 3D Printing MegaCamp

Turn your child’s love of LEGO into a passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Instructors inspire students to become engineers, programmers, inventors and entrepreneurs.  Robot Academy is Columbus’ original LEGO Robotics and STEM camp. Our founders won the First Lego League World Championship two years in a row (first place in robotics out of 10,000 teams) and have also won numerous national invention and science competitions. Robot Academy opened over 12 years ago and has taught thousands of young students. Many of our camp graduates have gone on to win their own international championships.  It’s the ultimate STEM experience.  Registration includes a Robot Academy t-shirt.

Our most popular option for budding engineers who love LEGOs is the MegaCamp. This camp combines our 5-day morning and afternoon camps with a supervised lunch break in-between. Students complete robot challenges to earn points in the morning and afternoon sessions. The trophies at the end of the camp are based on points earned by accomplishing robot challenges in the morning and afternoon sessions, so students have twice the chance to win tall trophies to reward their achievements. Award ceremonies are a fun celebration of our students’ talents. Our instructors provide individual help for students to ensure success.

The morning session of the camp focuses on Lego Robotics InventionLAB and 3D Printing.

Bring your ideas to life! We teach ‘rapid prototyping’, a technique that involves quickly building prototypes of invention ideas using LEGO Robotics or 3D printers. Kids design and build custom inventions with the help of their instructor and then present their prototypes to a Shark Tank panel (like on the TV show)! Kids enjoy presenting killer pitches to the encouraging judges Students complete robot challenges to earn points to win tall trophies to reward their achievements. We have individual help from Instructors to make sure that all students not only win trophies, but also gain confidence and a big smile. Students engage in programming, engineering, collaboration, problem-solving, data analysis, 3D Modeling and critical thinking.

The afternoon part of the camp focuses on building and programming robots.

Specifically crafted for young minds, this enriching program will introduce campers to a variety of robots, including:

  • Robot Academy Arduino LEGO Robot
  • mTiny
  • Robot Academy’s Codey Rocky LEGO Robot

Program Highlights:

  1. Hands-On Building and Coding:
    • Campers will build and code the Robot Academy Arduino LEGO Robot with the guidance of our experienced instructors.
    • Introduction to the fascinating Codey Rocky robot featuring Laser Tag, coding expressions, movement, and lights.
  2. Engaging Challenges:
    • Navigate mazes, engage in BattleBot showdowns, and strategize in laser tag competitions.
    • Reinforce core principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
  3. Skill Development:
    • Focus on mastering problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork.
    • Interactive, hands-on projects facilitated by seasoned instructors.
  4. Rewards and Recognition:
    • Campers earn points through robot challenges to win trophies, recognizing their achievements.
    • Individual help from instructors ensures all students are successful and happy campers.
  5. Brain Breaks:
    • Scheduled breaks to help our young campers stay refreshed and focused.

Camp Options:

  • Junior Camp (Ages 8 and below): Students are exposed to building and coding with guidance from instructors.
  • Senior Camp (Ages 8+): Students receive instructions to build and code, with instructors providing help as needed.
